UPCN San Juan meet African champions Ahly Sporting Club

·    UPCN and Al Ahly will meet for the first time at the club world championships.
·    UPCN won their only previous meeting with an African club, 3-0 against Esperance de Tunis in 2014.

·    UPCN (ARG) will participate in the club world championships for the third consecutive year, after a fourth place in 2013 and a bronze medal in 2014.
·    UPCN have qualified as 2015 champions of the South American club championships. They beat Sada Cruzeiro, hosts of this year's club world championships, in five sets in the final, winning the final set 16-14.
·    The 2013 and 2014 South American champions finished in fourth place of the club world championships of that respective year, UPCN in 2013 and Sada Cruzeiro in 2014.

Ahly Sporting Club
·    Ahly Sporting Club lost 3-0 to Paykan Tehran in their opener, being outspiked (34 to 33), outblocked (7 to 4) and outserved (7 to 1).
·    Top scorer for Al Ahly was Ahmed El Kotb with 14 points.
·    Al Ahly have now lost all seven matches at the club world championships (also in 2010 and 2011). The closest they came to a victory was in their 3-2 defeat to hosts Al Arabi in 2011, losing the fifth set 15-12.
·    They have now failed to win a single set in four of their seven club world championship matches.
·    They can lose back-to-back matches in straight sets for the second time, as they were beaten 3-0 by Paykan Tehran and Skra Belchatów in Pool A in 2010.
