Puerto Rican coach Alemán cherishes the opportunity to face elite teams

Betim, Brazil, October 29, 2015 - While it was all satisfaction in Zenit Kazan due to the qualification, Capitanes de Arecibo coach David Alemán and captain Héctor Soto underlined the good experience gathered at the competition, playing among the world’s finest.

Héctor Soto, Capitanes de Arecibo captain: “We are not satisfied, but we knew these teams are better than us. Anyway, we tried to be at their level and we did many good things, thinking on learning for our local tournament. I know the Russians so I’m happy for them, and I know they will get far here. As for us, we’re happy with what we’ve done.”

Nikolay Apalikov, Zenit Kazan captain: “We’re glad about advancing to the semifinals, and now we just have to wait for our opponent. We don’t know yet who we will face and at what time, so we cannot think on what’s next so far.”

David Alemán, Capitanes de Arecibo coach: “We had the honour to be face to face against some of the best teams in the world. We came with a clear goal - to improve our volleyball level, in order to use the knowledge back home against our regular opponents. We still have a long way to go, but it has been a good experience.”

Vladimir Alekno, Zenit Kazan coach: “Today it was a normal game for us, not so tough as the one last night. However, I know the next stage will be more challenging, so my only concern now is how will my team play on the semifinal tomorrow.”
