Paykan and UPCN clash for second Club World Championship bronze

 

UPCN San Juan won the bronze medal in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship

Head-to-head
· UPCN San Juan and Paykan Tehran will meet for the second time in the competition.
· Their only previous encounter was last Thursday when Paykan Tehran won 3-0. Set scores: 25-22, 25-22 and 25-22.
· Both team's top scorer in that match scored 15 points: Todor Aleksiev for UPCN San Juan and Amir Ghafour for Paykan Tehran. 
· UPCN had won their only previous club world championships meeting with an Iranian side, a 3-0 win against Kalleh Mazandaran in 2013.
· Paykan Tehran defeated Argentine side Drean Bolivar in five sets in the 2010 final for third place, after trailing 2-0.

· Paykan Tehran finished in fourth place in their club world championships debut in 2009, took the bronze medal in 2010 and finished fifth in 2011.
· They can become the first Asian team with multiple medals in this competition. Qatar's Al-Rayyan won a silver medal in 2014.
· All of Paykan Tehran's matches at the 2015 club world championships have ended in straight sets: 3-0 wins versus Al Ahly SC and UPCN San Juan and a 3-0 loss against Sada Cruzeiro.

UPCN San Juan
· UPCN San Juan finished fourth in 2013 and took the bronze medal in 2014.
· They are the only Argentine team ever to have claimed a club world championships medal.
· UPCN qualified as 2015 champions of the South American club championships. The 2013 and 2014 South American champions finished in fourth place of the club world championships of that respective year, UPCN in 2013 and Sada Cruzeiro in 2014.
· UPCN can lose three consecutive club world championships matches for the first time.
