Head-to-head· These teams will meet for the first time at the club world championships.
· Sada Cruzeiro Volei have lost two of their previous three matches against Russian sides in the competition, a 3-2 defeat to Lokomotiv Novosibirsk (2013) and a 3-1 defeat to Belogorie Belgorod (2014). Their win came in the 2013 final to Lokomotiv Novosibirsk (3-0).
· Zenit Kazan won their only previous club world championships meeting with a team from Brazil, 3-1 against Sesi-Sao Paulo in 2011.
Sada Cruzeiro Volei· Sada Cruzeiro Volei beat Capitanes de Arecibo 3-0 on Tuesday. Yoandy Leal Hidalgo, Isac Santos and Filipe Ferraz all scored a match-high 10 points for Sada Cruzeiro.
· In their three previous participations at the Club World Championship they also started with a straight set win as they beat Tigres UANL 3-0 in 2012, La Romana 3-0 in 2013 and Guaynabo Mets 3-0 in 2014.
· The win against Capitanes de Arecibo ended a streak of three consecutive losses in the tournament for Sada Cruzeiro, as they lost their last three matches of the 2014 edition.
· Sada Cruzeiro survived the Pool stages in each of their three previous participations.
· Sada Cruzeiro have still only once failed to win a single set in their club world championships matches: a 3-0 defeat in the 2012 final against Italy's Diatec Trentino.
Zenit Kazan· This will be Zenit Kazan's fourth club world championships after bronze medals in 2009 and 2011 and a fourth place in 2012.
· Zenit Kazan have qualified as 2015 champions of the European club championships. Since 2009, four of the six editions of the club world championships have been won by the European champions of that respective year.
· Zenit Kazan could win Russia's fifth medal in the competition. Only Italy (12) and Brazil (5) have won at least five medals.
· Zenit have only once failed to win a single set in the competition: a 3-0 defeat to Diatec Trentino in the semifinal of 2012.
