Peyman Akbari

Peyman Akbari

As a player Peyman Akbari was a giant of Iranian volleyball. He played for the national team for 10 years between 1997 and 2007. In that time he competed in five Asian Championships, two Asian Games, and two World Championships. As captain he led the national team to silver at the 2002 Asian Games and bronze at the 2003 Asian Championships. He has been equally successful as a coach, having begun his career in 2008. Since then he has led Paykan to victory in the Iranian Super League, the Asian Club Championship, and won a bronze medal at the 2010 Club World Championship. He had previously represented Paykan as a player. He has an MA degree in sports organisational management. He has recently been involved with the Iran national team. He took control of the U23 side at the World Championship in August, and led the B team at the 2015 Asian Championship.
