UPCN San Juan prepare well for Club World Championship

 

UPCN won 3-1 against Puerto San Martin in a friendly match in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 16, 2015 – UPCN San Juan levied a 3-1 (28-30, 28-26, 31-29, 25-10) victory over Puerto San Martin at Aldo Cantoni Stadium in a friendly match, which serves as preparation for UPCN in their participation in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship in Brazil.

Leskiw Auer of Puerto San Martin top scored with 22 points, while Santiago Alvarez of UPCN scored 18 points. 

The first set opened with an exchange of strong attacks, but Puerto San Martin rallied with a solid run to lift gain a 21-17 advantage. UPCN coach Armoa changed his game plan that allowed UPCN to catch up. UPCN managed to level with Puerto San Martin in the succeeding plays until Puerto San Martin gained set advantage with an attack and an error from UPCN.

Another close battle ensued in the second set as both teams played balanced offence. As Puerto San Martin had the momentum towards the end of the set, but UPCN recovered and dashed through with the 28-26 second set victory.

Martin Ramos and Javier Filardi kept UPCN’s intensity at the start of the third set. However, both teams suffered with a string of errors that kept the score close. UPCN prevailed in the encounter with a 31-29 win on a block by Pablo Guzman.

Coach Armoa fielded in his best lineup that showed more consistency in their plays in the fourth set. UPCN showed better intensity and speed in their plays to gain a 10-point advantage until they rallied to a 25-10 victory to take set and match.

UPCN will have their second friendly match against Puerto San Martin on Saturday at the Sports Lujan.
