Hosts Sada Cruzeiro take on Capitanes de Arecibo

·    Sada Cruzeiro will meet debutants Capitanes de Arecibo for the first time in Club World Championships.
·    In 2014, Sada Cruzeiro beat Puerto Rican side Guaynabo Mets 3-0, their only meeting with a club from the Central American country.
·    Sada Cruzeiro also beat Central American clubs Tigres UANL (MEX, 2012) and La Romana (DOM, 2013) in straight sets.

·    Hosts Sada Cruzeiro (BRA) will participate in the Club World Championships for the fourth consecutive year. They have hosted the competition ever since 2013.
·    In 2013, Sada Cruzeiro became the first non-Italian club to win the Men's Club World Championships beating Russia's Lokomotiv Novosibirsk 3-0 in the final.
·    Sada Cruzeiro also claimed a silver medal, in 2012, and finished in fourth place in last year's edition.
·    Cruzeiro can become the third team with multiple gold medals in this tournament, after Diatec Trentino (ITA, 4) and Misura Mediolanum Milano (ITA, 2).
·    Sada Cruzeiro have only once failed to win a single set in their Club World Championships matches: a 3-0 defeat in the 2012 final against Italy's Diatec Trentino.
·    Sada Cruzeiro won four of their five Club World Championship matches in Betim.

Capitanes de Arecibo
·    Capitanes de Arecibo (PUR) are making their Club World Championship debut as representatives of the NORCECA region.
·    Capitanes de Arecibo are the fourth Puerto Rican side to take part in the Club World Championships. The last two Puerto Rican teams to participate in the competition, Guaynabo Mets in 2014 and Plataneros de Corozal In 2009, failed to win any of their pool matches.
·    In 2012/2013, Capitanes de Arecibo became the second team to win the Puerto Rican title in their first year.
·    The last NORCECA side to win a Club World Championships match was Trinity Western Spartans Vancouver from Canada in 2011.
